A 12-year-old boy has been charged with the murder of a 60-year-old woman who died after being hit by a car in Sheffield on Wednesday, South Yorkshire police said.
The boy, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, will appear before Sheffield youth court on Saturday.
The woman who died has been named as Marcia Grant.
Emergency services were called at 7.10pm on Wednesday to reports of a collision between a car and a woman in the Greenhill area of the city.
In a statement released through South Yorkshire police on Friday, Grant’s family said she was a “warm, loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend and a pillar of her community.”
They said her loss had “sent shockwaves through all who knew her or was lucky enough to be included in her orbit.”
